Start Scrapbooking With Us

When my wife said to me she was going to start scrapbooking I had visions of her regressing to childhood and cutting out pictures of her favourite boyband and sticking them in a scrapbook. Thankfully the reality was a lot different.
She had joined a local group of mums who were all starting scrapbooks of their own, and it involved family photo albums, captions, and creating a memory book of all the people we love.

So now we knew what we were talking about, we needed some items to make our scrapbook come alive, as without some added materials, it would be just a photo album. With this in mind we scoured the internet, and searched Google for scrapbooking resources (to save you some time we will be putting our start scrapbooking findings in the scrapbooking resources section of this site). There are some great scrapbooking resources online, and many offer inexpensive ways to improve the look of your memory book.

So if like us you're just starting a scrapbook of your own, to make something special for your children and relatives to be able to share in the memories you have, then stick around and learn all about creating memory books as we do, and we'll all work together to make our scrapbooks something to be proud of. All you need to get started is a photo album, some photographs, and a little creativity.

Some Scrapbook Theme Ideas

Now we have started our scrapbooking endeavour by sorting out some photographs and an album, it was time to start putting together themes. One of the first themes came about because of my eldest stepdaughters behaviour when she was younger, and all the pictures were of her destroying something or the aftermath of a destruction fit. So it seemed that a 'lil devil' theme was the order of the day. We then went through the photos of the other girls, and found themes fitting for each of them, one had an angelic look so that was easy, the other has the kind of 'cheeky monkey' face in all the pictures, and an attitude to match so that was the next theme. Our youngest daughter is called Phoebe, and I always called her 'swee'pea' after the character in Popeye cartoons, so her section of the scrapbook has a sweet pea theme.

My wife then found some photos of the girls at various ages playing in the snow, so we have a snowy days themed section in our scrapbook. Holidays, and special occasions also offer great scrapbooking opportunities, and Halloween and Christmas have given us some great memories, with the bonus being that holiday clipart is readily available to enhance your scrapbooks theme.

Our wedding day also produced some great pictures, and after scanning the pictures (digital photos are great for scrapbooks, you can even arrange a whole page with pictures, clipart and text ready to print) we themed the wedding memory page in our scrapbook.
